Sagnol is a solid right-back who has been playing in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich since 2000.
At the German giants Sagnol has won almost everything there is to win. Five Bundesligas, four German Cups, two German Super Cups, one Champions League and an Intercontinental Cup have created a bulging trophy cabinet for the defender.
Sagnol had started his career in his homeland with St Etienne before moving to Monaco, where he won the Ligue 1 title.
It was this success in France that persuaded Ottmar Hitzfeld to bring Sagnol to Germany. However the right-back's time in the Bundesliga now seems to be coming to an end.
Sagnol has been heavily linked with AC Milan recently, although the arrival of new coach Jurgen Klinsman could persuade the defender to remain at the Allianz Arena.
At international level Sagnol was a key member of Raymond Domenech's squad at the last World Cup and now appears set to figure in Les Bleus' first choice defence in Austria and Switzerland.
