Clerc is set to be first choice right-back Willy Sagnol's deputy this summer and he is unlikely to get much game time.
The reliable Lyon defender has helped his side to a seventh straight Ligue 1 title this season and in the process scored his first goal in senior football, against Strasbourg in December.
Clerc has also proved steady when called upon by France as he took over from the injured Sagnol to feature in four of Les Bleus' qualifying games for this summer's tournament.
The 25-year-old is clearly rated highly by Raymond Domenech as he edged out Arsenal's highly-rated full-back Bacary Sagna for a place in the squad.
However, Clerc caused controversy last season when he agreed to join Marseille before extending his contract with Lyon. An action which earned him a suspension and a fine from the French Professional Football League.
